This summer, a special projects effort was launched under the direction of Mrs. Kinkade and led by parent, Garry Mauro. Two out of the three projects identified by Mrs. Kinkade at the beginning of the summer, are already completed!
- Funding of a half-time technology teacher. Christy Gates is on board and is already active in the school, integrating technology in a meaningful way to students and teachers in the computer lab.
- Equipping all classrooms with updated maps and globes. These have been ordered and will be placed in classrooms by the end of September.
The third project, replacing 10 classroom computers that need to be retired is still underway. Let’s keep the momentum going. Any donation amount is valued and will help us to reach this goal. Donate a Computer Now.
The special projects funds are collected through the Austin Community Foundation and are separate from PTA funding and Mathews Fund for Excellence. These funds are specifically directed towards immediate identified school needs that are larger than those that PTA funds would cover.
In response to many of your comments we are trying to the contributions process ‘quick and simple’ with checks and credit cards being accepted.
