Building and Grounds Work Day

sandy-stonesEach fall and spring, volunteers gather at Mathews on a Saturday morning to help with a few building and grounds maintenance projects. The swing of a hammer, the stroke of a paintbrush, the swipe of a washcloth − a little effort can do wonders! So please come join in a good cause.

This year’s work days will be October 3, 2009, and March 27, 2010. Please contact Joanna Duncan to volunteer, or for more information.

Git-R-Done!

That’s what we did on Saturday, March 28th, at the Spring 2009 Building and Grounds work day!

Thanks to Patrick Sullivan, Sandy Cartwright, Blair Newberry and Marcia Tugendhat for helping direct the energy of UT volunteers as they swept the back playground, weeded the flowerbeds, picked up trash, removed gravel from the bushes up front, placed a limestone border, and finished placing timber along the front playground fence line.

Sara Belknap, Elizabeth Breston, Susan Bell and daughter Zoe and a group of UT volunteers helped clean up the art room while another group assisted Liza Felcamp and Kari Perkins in working on Fairy Tale Theater sets. Thanks also to parents Genny Dalton, Emily Johnson, Jim Montanaro, Paola Ferate-Soto and Gustavo Soto for their hard work.

We appreciate Gamma Beta Phi, Longhorn Outreach, Texas First, Acacia Fraternity and Forever Texas sending 47 volunteers to participate in our work day. Finally, thank you to Home Depot for their generous donation of mulch, garden soil and yard waste bags. Thanks to Joanna Duncan for organizing the day for us.
