Mathews Friends for Excellence (MFE)

Scholarship information for AISD high school graduate students who attended Mathews Elementary School.

AISD graduating seniors can submit online or download the Scholarship Form.

The MFE Scholarship was established to recognize former students who have excelled in their academic endeavors, supported their family and community through various outreach activities, participated in extracurricular activities, and proven they possess the drive to further their education.

Scholarship recipients will be honored at a school-wide assembly in May. The recipients will be asked to say a few words to the Mathews students. The essays for the applicants will become the property of Mathews Elementary School, and may be used in future publications.

Student Applicant Requirements:

  • Austin ISD high school graduate.
  • Attended Mathews Elementary for at least one year.
  • Has at least a cumulative GPA of 2.5.
  • Has demonstrated involvement in one or more of the following: community outreach organizations, support of family members, participated in extracurricular activities.
  • Intends to continue his/her education beyond high school, including but not limited to university, community or junior college, or a vocational school.
  • Submits a completed application package by the deadline (incomplete packages will not be considered).

Evaluation Process:

Scholarships shall be awarded based on student application requirements. A subcommittee of MFE will evaluate the applications.
