International Festival & Feast is this Thursday, March 12th!

One of the highlights of the year, this lively event demonstrates everything that’s special about our school. With the richly diverse culture of our student body and school community, we enjoy sharing our various traditions and great food − and, of course, dancing by our talented children!

International Festival & Feast //Thursday, March 12th

The evening begins with the International Feast, our potluck dinner in the cafeteria. We ask that each family brings a dish for the potluck that serves six to eight people, and we encourage you to bring food typical of your family’s heritage. Everyone is welcome to sample traditional food from around the world!

Following dinner, we proceed to the blacktop for the main program. First comes the Parade of Nations, with students in traditional costumes presenting flags and greetings to celebrate the many languages and cultures from around the world. All students are welcome to join the Parade of Nations!  After the Parade of Nations, all Mathews students will perform traditional dances from countries around the world. Our students practice their dances at school for weeks, and every student will perform a dance with their grade level!

We need every family’s help to carry on this important Mathews tradition!

Thank you for those have already signed up to participate in the parade and potluck. We also need a handful of volunteers on the day of the festival, either to set up (3:30-4:30) or to clean up (7:30-8:30). It probably won’t take a full hour, but we could use the help.
If you are available to help set up or clean up, could you please email Theresa Alvarez  or Ranjana Natarajan and let us know? Thanks so much in advance.
Thanks so much for supporting our signature spring event at Mathews! We hope to see you there!
