Written By: Mary McKenna
Welcome to Mathews Choir! I am looking forward to making music after school with 3rd-6th graders who love to sing. Weekly choir rehearsals will take place on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00pm in the Music Room with the first meeting on Wednesday, September 4, 2019. Performances will take place on November 14th and March 26th at 6:00pm on the Mathews cafeteria stage. We will also perform for our fellow Mathews students and staff during school-wide assemblies.
Please contact Ms. McKenna (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any questions. Looking forward to an awesome year!!

What will we be singing about in choir this year?
Our school theme for the year is “Mathews Mission Control: To the Stars and Beyond!”, inspired by the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo moon landing and the extraordinary work of the women and men who toiled both in front of and behind the scenes to accomplish something amazing. In the fall, the Mathews Choir will perform an outer space-themed musical titled “Spaced Out” by John Jacobson and Cristi Cary Miller, including songs about the sun/moon, a meteor shower, and the planets. Looking forward to blasting off on this great adventure!
In the spring semester, the Mathews Choir will be performing a musical celebration of the visual arts titled “Yo, Leonardo!” by Mark Burrows, including songs about Leonardo Da Vinci, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Dali Salvador, Mary Cassatt, Georgia O’Keeffe Frieda Kahlo, and Vincent Van Gogh. Can’t wait to sing about these famous artists and their work!
