Partnerships with UTeach and MakerReady

UTeach – please visit austin.uteach.utexas.edu for more info

Mathews Elementary works closely with the University of Texas UTeach program.  We provide both undergraduate students and degree holders the opportunity to explore the profession of STEM teaching in a hands-on way by developing and teaching a lesson in our classrooms.

Many of our teachers mentor UT Austin students seeking their Texas certification in elementary education.  This partnership provides valuable field experience for future educators to work alongside seasoned teachers for a semester long experience.

MakerReady – please visit makerready.com for more info

Mathews Elementary partners with the wonderful Makers at MakerReady who built our Maker tool carts and come in regularly for teacher professional development and Family Build Nights.

At Mathews, students learn more than electronic technology, and are also exposed to good ol’ tools, sewing machines, hand saws, hot glue guns, etc… The school is committed to high tech AND low tech: we reuse and up-cycle common house hold items which become amazing building materials.
