PARKING, DROP-OFFS, AND PICK-UPS
Thank you for putting the safety of our students first and foremost! All entries and exits, which include drop-off and pick-up of students, must occur through the front door of Mathews.
Bell Schedule:
First Bell: 7:30am
Tardy Bell: 7:40am
Dismissal: 2:57pm
The cafeteria begins serving breakfast at 7:00am. Students arriving to school before 7:30am assemble in the cafeteria (PK-2nd) or gym (3rd-6th) where they will be supervised until escorted or released to class. Students arriving after 7:30am should walk directly to their classroom. Classroom instruction begins promptly each day at 7:40am. Students who do not arrive with enough time to make it to their seats by 7:40am must come to the office for a tardy pass. An adult must accompany students to sign in.
Drop-off by Car:
Parents or guardians may use the West Lynn curbside parking area in front of the school for unloading only (no parking from 7:00am to 8:00am). Mathews 6th Grade Safety Patrol will be on duty in the unloading area to assist.
Pick-up by Car:
Parents or guardians may pick-up at the West Lynn curbside parking area after buses have loaded and departed. To queue for pick-up, drive around the back of the school. Queue along 9 1/2 Street until buses have departed. Please do not pull into the lane until all buses have exited the lane. After buses depart, turn right on West Lynn, and pull into the curbside parking area for pick-up. Safety Patrol will be on duty in the loading area to assist. Please do not queue on West Lynn, as this holds up neighborhood traffic.
We'll be using car tags to create a more efficient dismissal process. Students will continue to be walked to the bus area or front lawn for pick-up after school. We ask that all cars keep a car tag on the mirror with your student's name, grade level, and teacher. Students will have a corresponding backpack tag to help Safety Patrol and teachers get students to their appropriate way home.
Mathews does NOT have a parking lot for general use. General parking is available along 9th and 10th Streets heading east from West Lynn.
There is NO PARKING on West Lynn from 7:00am to 8:00am and 2:00pm and 3:00pm. The curbside parking area in front of the school is prioritized for loading and unloading school buses. When school buses are not present, the area is then open for drop-off and pick-up. Use is restricted to loading and unloading only, no parking. Please do not exit your vehicle during drop-off and pick-up.
We appreciate our Safety Patrol students! Mathews 6th Grade Safety Patrol is on duty to assist during drop-off and pick-up, directing students into cars and directing traffic. Please be mindful and respectful of our Safety Patrol students in orange vests, who offer their time to assist younger students.
